Hayle -A Journey into the Divesrse World

My family has never been too big into music. There's only a couple of us within the family what actually play an instrument. My uncle is the only one currently playing, he can play the guitar and banjo. I wouldn't say he had a lot of influence with me going into music cause I was never really around him. My older brother attempted trumpet in high school but that only lasted a few weeks.  My grandmother played the flute while growing up, but put it away after high school. I actually played on her flute when I first started and is the reason I play flute today! Listing them out actually makes it feel like a lot more.  With this Blog, I actually wanted to interview my dad. For some background he grew up in the 1970s if that gives you an idea of where he was at for music. The reason why I picked him is because he has introduced me to so many artist and types of music. Tradition and music has rarely been a common factor in my life. No common pieces  for celebrations (well if you don't count "Happy Birthday"), never been to a wedding, or any other gathering. Now, Im not saying my family doesn't have many traditions, we just don't use music. So, the idea of music being a tradition was never introduced to me until I went into school. Whether that came to marching band, events during our senior year, or even some gigs I've picked up over the years.  Gigs have always been a good way for me to expose myself to music and traction, especially within the church.  For a couple years I was invited to play at New Harvest Church Of God for their Christmas and Easter services.                Hello!! My name is Hayle Spake! I'm currently a freshmen here at converse majoring in music and elementary education! I grew up in the small town of Chesnee, South Carolina which is only 30 minutes away from Converse. Living in a small town, everyone knows everyone and the kids basically grew up together because none of us went any where. So you can say coming to Converse was quite a culture shock. When Im not at school or creating music, you can find me reading, exploring, working, sunsets, or spending time with family and friends.
